Day 3: Off from KickOff

And another short day. Leaving kickoff at 3pm and hiked 7.8 short but gorgeous miles!
Can you guys give me some feedback on the size of my journalpictures? I set them to width 800 px in my last two post and in this post I set it to 1000px. Is that big/wide enough so you can read it easily? I have no idea what it looks like on a computerscreen cause I only have my smartphone here, so I’d be really grateful for any feedback concerning the imagesize, … Thanks so much, love, Cat

  1. On my mini ipad i can read it fine when turned to landscape. A bit small, but readable. One size up would be more “eye friendly”, or maybe its time for me to get glasses! Lol. Best of luck, enjoying your blog!

  2. I’m on a 13″ MBA and I can almost read it in your text, but if I click on the pic it will open it in a new tab and it’s easier to read… however, a little bigger won’t hurt either…

Anyway, I am so excited for you! And quite a bit jealous…. I would love to do the PCT… And it would be pretty awesome to at least get to go to the ADZPCTKO too… Oh well, for now, I am living through you and Will Wood…

So, enjoy life, and thanks for the updates! Be safe and happy hiking!

  3. Hey Helen! On my phone screen I can read your journals fine, but on my computer screen it’s a little small. The next size up would be good!

The desert sure is beautiful right now. I’m hoping to get up to the San Gorgonio/San Jacinto/Idyllwild area next week for a weekend backpacking trip or maybe Big Bear for some car camping, but seeing your pictures I might just do a desert hike instead. I’ve been working on my master’s thesis for the past few weeks and I’m almost done, but I’m still dying to get out…uuuuuggggggghhhhh.

  4. Thanks so much Joshua. Unfortunately I will have to hop on the bike tomorrow but I hope it will strenghten my muscles in a gentle way so that I can start a sobo hike in june or july. No matter what I will always try to make the best out of the situation! Thanks for following!!!

  5. Cat – beautiful journal, so much better than typewritten! The hummingbird moment, pure magic! Technically, you’ve been in chaparral, not desert, which is why it’s so green; it’s a summer-drought, winter-rain ecosystem, a Mediterranean climate zone – and you’re seeing it pretty much at its greenest and best. Your yellow flower is Monkey Flower (Diplacus aurantiacus), and in the photo right below it, the grayish-green shrub is sagebrush (Artemesia tridentata) – so fragrant!

I so admire your courage, listening carefully to what your body says and making the choice to create this special PCT journey before your surgery. Sending all good thoughts your way!
