  1. Oh yeah, this is real desert! In the last photo, the gray-ish green rounded shrubs with dried-up flowers are Encelia farinosa (Brittlebush orBrittlebrush), a signature desert plant, with lots of medicinal and practical uses by Native Americans.

    Amazing pics, beautiful big vistas, SO SO happy you are back on the trail. Hugs to you and Daniel.

    • Hey Betty, thanks sooo much for that info. We’re curious all the time about the plants and their uses. It’s so wonderful to be back on trail. Each day is a gift and we enjoy every step. Love from the both of us!
